1039 days later ... a win

Updated: Oct 20, 2021

BOORT have broken through for their first North Central league senior football victory since June 2018.

After 1039 days, a goal with minutes to go from Will Perryman snared the win over Donald by two points.

The Magpies had been three goals up at the main break and held on until the home side goaled with five minutes to go.

That’s when Boort rose to a new level, Perrymen entered and the siren sounded.

Coach Andrew Hawker said the Pies were not getting ahead of themselves. “We’ve still got to iron out a lot of bad habits,” he said while praising the increasing mobility of the Pies’ half back and half forward lines. We simply want to be competitive and that’s how we went into Saturday’s game.”

The victory - the first since two in 2018 - starts to put the Pies’ 2021 season into better context after a tough opening draw that included Sea Lake Nandaly.
