Drain block work call for Calder Highway
1 min read

WATER flowed has across the Calder Highway at Inglewood hampering access to the town for more than 48 hours.
Resident Enzo Scafati said the solution to water blocking the southern exit from town after deluges was easy.
“The pipes under the culvert at Sullivan Street are not big but there is a huge pile of dirt blocking water flowing into the main drain just metres away,” he said.
“That water has nowhere to go but out and across the highway.”
Enzo said rain since Christmas Day had again created a hazard for motorists.
“There were signs erected today (Boxing Day) warning vehicles travelling south but nothing to alert drivers coming into town from Bendigo,” he said.
“There’s still water across half the road at this spot and cars from Bendigo seem to be driving through without a care.
“All that needs to be done is remove this big pile of dirt blocking the flow of water to the drain.
“I have been asking for something to be done for several years. Hopefully we can see some simple and easy work to reduce the dangers that come on the Calder Highway at this spot every time we cop a big rain.”
There was also flooding on residential properties on the Calder Highway at the northern end of the township where residents saw backyards deep under water and some house flooding.
